The most expensive school is learning from your own mistakes. Okay, on my last post, I told that we should not be afraid of having mistakes. I still stand to that. We still need to be action-oriented and we should be avoiding the paralysis caused by too much analysis.

Take it this way. Do not learn everything before you start. Just begin with an end in mind. When it is clear to you what is the end goal, you will realize that there will be many different means or way to achieve that. To achieve it faster, seek lessons from experiences of others, especially from their mistakes.

The human exists for hundreds of thousands of years, and even more, it is highly probable that someone has been to the situations that you are about to get into in achieving your goals. Here are the things you can do to avoid the mistake of focusing only on learning from own experiences:

  1. Seek Mentor
I have been to different fields in my profession and I have noticed that those who are truly successful are always willing to share. You just need to listen.
  2. Read Biographies
It is inspiring to learn that other human beings have achieved so much than what we have accomplished. Look for people that have the result that you wanted. Follow them. Read their life stories and be inspired.
  3. Associate Yourself
Engage yourself to the activities or events that will bring you closer to those people that have the result that you want to have. People always tend to fit in and by immersing yourself with them, you will be adjusting yourself with less effort and without you knowing.
